Chemical Composition Formononetin, ononin, prunetin, afromosin, cajinin, licochalcone A, isoliquiritigenin, 2,4-tetrahydroxychalcone, procatechuic acid, (-) epicatechin, 3,7-dihydroxy-6-methoxyflavanonol, daucosterol, 7-carbonyl-β-sitosterol
Pharmacological Effects • Sedative and hypnotic: intraperitoneal injections demonstrated both sedative and hypnotic influences in rats
• Cardiovascular: administration of herbal decoction at 0.5 g/kg in rabbits or 0.3 g/kg in dogs lowered blood pressure
• Uterine stimulant: decoction has stimulating effect on uterus in both pregnant and non-pregnant laboratory animals
