| Pharmacological Effects | • Antiasthmatic and antitussive: intraperitoneal injection of water extract associated with marked antiasthmatic and antitussive effects; has been proposed that herb relieves wheezing and asthma by relaxing the bronchiole; no expectorant effect observed • Diuretic: mild diuretic effect • Antibiotic: inhibitory effect against S. aureus, Bacillus anthracis, and Bacillus dysenteriae |
