Contraindications (TCM) CI: Excess Patterns or early stage diarrhea or dysentery. Should not mixed w/ oils/fats when taken to kill parasites (prevents absorption of herb into system)

Chemical Composition Pelletierine, methyl-pelletierine, pseudo-pelletierine, dl-isopelletierine, methyl-dl-isopelletierine, isoquercitrin, inulin, mannitol, tannin, mallic acid, punicine, calcium oxalate
Pharmacological Effects • Antibiotic: inhibitory effect against Corynebacterium diphtheriae, S. aureus, Bacillus dysenteriae, and various pathogenic fungi and dermatophytes
• Antiparasitic: demonstrated marked antiparasitic effect against tapeworms
