Actions & Indications 1) Resolves Toxins, Dries Dampness, Kills Parasites, & Alleviates Itching (wash for scabies or tinea)
2) Restrains & Inhibits Sores, Gen Flesh, & Transform Putrefaction
3) Stops Bleeding & Alleviates Diarrhea (Blood in stool, Uterine bleeding, vaginal discharge)
4) Clears Heat & Expels Phlegm
Dosages 1-3g decoctions; 0.6-1.5g in pills and powders
Contraindications (TCM) SP/ST deficiency or in absence of Damp-Heat; use with caution when taking internally.

Pharmacological Effects • Antibiotic: inhibitory effect in vitro against Bacillus proteus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, S. aureus, and Candida albicans; inhibitory effect on various gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including but not limited to S. aureus, Bacillus proteus, E. coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus anthracis, Bacillus dysenteriae, Salmonella typhi, β-hemolytic streptococcus, Diplococcus and Streptococcus pneumoniae
