Pharmacological Effects • Gastrointestinal: oral administration in rats has demonstrated marked influence on gastrointestinal system; exerts protective effects on gastrointestinal system by stimulating production of stomach mucous membranes; increases stomach acid secretion and intestinal motility
• Cardiovascular: associated with increase in heart rate, respiration rate, and blood pressure
• Antibiotic: inhibitory effect on Salmonella typhi, Vibrio cholerae and Trichomonas vaginalis
