Contraindications (TCM) Caution with Deficiency and Cold of Sp/St, Qi and/or Yang Deficiency, LV and KD Deficiency
Contraindications (Western) Dilates pupils, thus use with caution with eye disorders such as glaucoma
Chemical Composition β-sitosterol, cholesteryl palmitate, 3,4-dihydroxyl benzaldehyde, p-hydroxyl benzoic acid, 3,4-dihydroxyl benzoic acid, nicotinic acid
Pharmacological Effects • Antihypertensive: moderate antihypertensive effects
• Ophthalmic: decoction given daily for 6 days lowered ocular pressure in rabbits
• Antibiotic: decoction has strong inhibiting effect on Pseudomonas aeruginosa
