Diagnosis Dysphagia-occlusion due to Qi stagnation
Action Regulates Qi, opens constraint, moistens dryness, transforms phlegm
Indication Swallowing accompanied by choking sensation, or feeling f esophageal constriction or blockage, focal distention of chest and diaphragm, or distention accompanied by indistinct pain and relieved by belching, dry retching, or spitting up of phlegm or oral mucus; these primary symptoms may be accompanied by difficult bowel movements, dry mouth and throat, gradual emaciation. T: red with white coat; P: thin, wiry
Remarks Contraindicated in cases of blood stasis characterized by inability to swallow food or vomiting of blood; in Yin deficiency with desiccated fluids and a tongue without coating; Qi and Yang deficiency accompanied by weight loss and fading spirits
